The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion is one of the budget-friendly smartphones and was launched on 16 May 2024 in India. The phone is coming with a good-looking design, which is eye-catching. The display and camera performance are also good. Other features like wireless charging support, fast wired charging support, and good build quality are quite impressive, so let’s get more details about the phone through this blog.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Design and Display

The phone is very light and weighs 174 grams, and this is very comfortable to hold. You can easily use the phone with a single hand for a long time. The grip is also solid with curves on both sides and has a leather design at the back with no weird camera layout, bumps, or anything as such. Also, the leather back is not of cheap quality, plus the phone is coming with full IP68 ingress protection, which means you don’t have to worry about getting drenched in rain.

Now coming on display, the phone features a6.7-inch P-OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, and after setting it at 144Hz from the settings, you will see the UI and apps everything runs at 144Hz, and the core quality of this display is really nice, and with 1600nits of peak brightness it can get bright and perfectly visible in outdoors, the minimal brightness is also quite low. However, there is one con to this display, which is that there is no HDR video playback support on any OTT apps or even on YouTube, but overall the colors are nice and accurate.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Performance

The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion comes with a Qualcomm SM7435-AB Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset along with 8GB off DDR 4X Ram and UFS 2.2 storage. In terms of benchmarks, it scored AnTuTu 558,439(v10), which is less than the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset. But Motorola has optimized the performance very well. It feels fast, and the clean Motorola UI enhances the experience. Overall, the phone is good for daily usage.

However, the phone is overheating while playing popular games like Genshin Impact, which is not ideal. Also, while browsing the internet or watching videos outside in a sunny environment, the phone gets slightly wormy, not overbearingly. This all happens because the company has not included any kind of vapor chamber cooling solution.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Battery

The phone features a 5000mAh battery capacity. After using the phone in 144Hz refresh mode, the phone has a tendency to heat up at times. The phone has not a good battery backup as the Nord CE4, but the phone gives up to 6-7 hours of screen time backup. Also, the company offers 68W charging support, and this is a fast charger that can go from 0 to 100% in 1 hour.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Cameras

The Edge 50 comes with a dual rear camera setup, a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C main sensor with PDAF and OIS, and a 13MP ultra-wide lens. As compared to last year’s Motorola smartphone models, the camera has improved a lot in terms of optimization, and in the portrait department, the Edge 50 fusion clicks better portraits than the Nord CE4, it brightens up the skin tone to make them look pleasing, and it also has better edge detection. Plus, Motorola also allows to shoot at 1.5X and 2x modes for better subject focus and background blur, which looks much better than the regular 1x shots.

However, I found the normal daytime images to have decent details, and contrast is also well managed, but in most photos the color saturation is quite high, which might look good in some photos, but it is not handling reds and greens very well. You can take some good-looking macro shots, and the selfies are just normal. It’s a bit contrasty and darker than Nord CE4. You can record videos up to 4K from all the lenses, and it’s good enough for sharing it with your friends with nice details and contrast.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Price

The Edge 50 Fusion base variant (8GB/128GB of storage) is priced at ₹22,999, and the 12GB/256GB of storage variant is priced at ₹24,999, and the phone is available on e-commerce websites like Amazon, Flipkart, Motorola, and also on other offline partner stores.

Verdict

Overall, the design of the phone is looking good and slim, the performance is acceptable, and it has a good display. The battery life is not so optimized, and the camera is still good enough for the price, so the Motorola Edge 50 is a good option for those who are looking for a good looking and stylish phone at an affordable price.
