Google recently launched the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL in the market, and it has already launched the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and, for the first time in India, Google’s Pixel 9 Pro fold. The 9-Pixel Pro XL is all about AI, battery life, and software updates. Therefore, we tried to give the best review about the phone through this blog post.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Design and Display
The Pixel 9 Pro XL comes with matte finish glass with shiny metal frames. The sides are flat and have rounded edges, which makes it somehow like the iPhone 15 Pro Max, not so much from the rear but a lot from the front. The 9 Pro XL frame is made up of polished aluminum, the camera module has been redesigned and looks like a flat entire strip, the Google logo on the back is much bigger now, the phone weighs 221g, which makes it pretty heavy, it’s an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the protection, the USB Type-C port is located at the bottom, and the 9 Pro XL comes in four colors: porcelain, rose quartz, hazel, and obsidian.
Honor 200 Review : Triple 50MP Camera Phone
The phone has a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with 120Hz refresh and 1344 x 2992 pixels resolution. The display can hit a peak brightness of 3000 nits, and when you are watching HDR content, it can go up to 2100 nits. The HDR tuning is incredible whether you are watching YouTube, Netflix, etc., and the colors have also been accurately tuned. The adaptive refresh tuning on this display is quite impressive, and it dynamically switches between the lowest refresh rates depending upon whatever content is playing. Google has also updated the in-display finger print scanner, which is now ultrasonic. The haptics on the Google phones are generally very good, but on the Pixel 9 Pro XL, they are much better.
However, the punch hole is slightly larger and not aligned at the center with the status bar, and the PWM dimming is 240Hz, which means if your eyes are sensitive to low light flicker on high refresh displays, this is going to be a huge problem. Google should fix this as soon as possible.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Performance and Software
The 9 Pro XL comes with a new Google Tensor G4 chipset based on Samsung’s 4 NM fabrication with a Mali-G715 MC7 GPU coupled with the slow UFS 3.1 storage speed. So the performance is not that good.
Overall, thanks to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM type for all of the AI requirements of this phone. The phone is excellent for general usage. It has extremely smooth animations and impressive ram management, but for more powerful workloads, the flagship scored 84522 in the AnTuTu benchmark, which is lower than the Poco F6 and Realme GT 6T, and on the CPU throttle test, it scored 62%, which is not the best score. The GPU stability score was 75%, which was better than many Android flagships like the OnePlus 12, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and the VIVO x100 Pro.
However, popular games like PUBG can’t run at 90 FPS, which should have been possible, and COD does run at 120 FPS. The good thing is that the Pixel 9 Pro XL has a cooling chamber inside so it does not get hot.
The Pixel 9 Pro XL runs on Android 14, and Google promises 7 years of software updates. Meanwhile, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is all about AI this year, and it is the best AI phone. You get both fun and useful AI tools, such as:
- Google Gemini Advanced: This tool is also available on other Android phones as well, but the Pixel 9 Pro XL offers more features in it, and with a 1-year free subscription, this tool is like ChatGPT, but here you get a voice chat option too.
- Add Me: It is a camera feature that lets you add a photographer friend in the group shot, and it has a very intuitive UI as well, which helps you to do it.
- Photo Studio: This tool helps to generate images with prompts, like most AI tools do.
- Magic Editor helps to crop and align photos, and you can also use generative prompts to change a certain part of an image.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Battery
The 9 Pro pixel battery life has improved battery life now that the phone has a Li-Ion 5060mAh battery capacity, which provides 6-7 hours of screen time. This phone has a great battery life and supports 37W wired charging, which completes 100% charging in 50-60 minutes, and also has 23W wireless charging support.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Cameras
The cameras have always been a big part of Google phones, so the XL comes with a triple rear camera setup, a 50MP main camera withdual pixel PDAF and OIS, a 48MP periscope telephoto lens with dual pixel PDAF, OIS, and 5x optical zoom, an upgraded 48MP ultrawide lens with dual pixel PDAF, and more thing that’s upgraded, which is a 42MP selfie camera with PDAF. The camera specs are similar to Pixel 8 Pro Mobile, which was launched last year. Therefore, the camera has not changed much compared with the last-year variant, even though the photos captured by the XL are sharp and contrasty.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Price
The Pixel 9 Pro XL base 16GB/256GB of storage variant is priced at ₹1,39,999, and the 12GB/512GB of storage variant is priced at ₹1,39,999, and the phone is available on e-commerce websites like Flipkart, Croma, etc. as well as other offline partner stores.
Verdict
Overall, the design of the mobile looks nice, and other features are also quite impressive except for the performance. As the Tensor G4 chipset inside this phone could come close to the performance of a Snapdragon 8 gen 3 or the A17, it may become the best Android phone. I hope that in the coming time the company will upgrade the chipset.
