In Short
- Apple plans to use 2nm chips in the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.
- The chipset might be built by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited).
- TMSC is also working on an advanced version of N2 process technology.
In a recent report, the Apple company is going to feature 2nm chips in 2025, in the iPhone 17 series, and the report also revealed that the chips may be built by TSMC, while the TMSC chip producer is having issues in production. However, the iPhone 15 Pro is the first iPhone variant to offer a 3 nm A17 Pro chip, whereas other iPhone variants are still running on the 4 nm Bionic chipset, and now the 2nm chip might be available next year in some iPhone models.
iPhone 16 series supports much faster wired charging
Meanwhile, the SoC will come only in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max due to the low yields of the new process technology, and in another report from Taiwan, the TMSC shows the new product, but the company still needs the help of the other suppliers to ready the chip for smartphones.
The TMSC will start the production of the 2 nm chip in 2025, and the company is also working on the N2 process technology to make the advanced version, and according to the reports, it may be ready in ending 2026, which means the first iPhone model will be the iPhone 19 series, which will come with N2P technology and will be introduced in 2027.
